8 Money Reminders to Snap You Out of a Broke Mindset

Written by Maria Flynn

Money can be the root of all evil…or the tool that brings you more peace, freedom and joy.  To be sure the latter is truer than you may realize.  Also true, if you’re a jerk before you had money, you’ll be a jerk with money.  Below is a gathering of money quotes that serve as excellent reminders for anyone who wants to improve their financial status in addition to welcoming more joy, peace and freedom, too.

Money and success don’t change people. They merely AMPLIFY what is already there. ~ Will Smith

Money expands that which you already are!!  Do you hear this?  Do you feel this?  Did you grow up in an environment that spoke of the wealthy as though they were bad people?  It’s simply not true.  The greatest givers in the world were able to give because of the money they had to give!

For example, Bill and Melinda Gates believe that the path out of poverty begins when the next generation can access quality healthcare and a great education, and so they started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to fulfill this mission.

Bill and Melinda Gates is only one example of too many to count.  I recently wrote about the habit of billionaires for Your Digital Formula where I shared that Andrew Carnegie, a Scots-American 19th Century steel baron was famous for this wealth AND his philanthropies.  Carnegie authored, The Gospel of Wealthwhere he called upon the wealthy to commit themselves to charity and service.

I challenge you to google the philanthropies of the rich and wealthy.

Don’t tell me what you value.  Show me your budget and I’ll tell you. ~Joe Biden

ON POINT… often on my One Wise Life LIVE show, I share that if you don’t like what’s going on in your life, then look to where you are investing your time, energy and money.  Are you spending it or investing in it?  If you’re spending endless hours in front of a large scale TV then you already know what you value most.

Set peace of mind as your goal, and organize your time around it. ~Brian Tracy

Stressed about finances and not having enough is not freedom and far removed from living a peaceful life, yes?  Yet…so many tell themselves that money is not what brings you happiness and peace.  Truth is…that’s what broke people say.

The road to financial freedom is different than the road to riches.  They are different strategies. ~T. Harv Eker

Are you chasing the cash?  Are you figuring out your next get-rich-quick scheme?  That’s not financial freedom for the long-term.  It’s far removed from the real heart, soul, and hustle of living wealthy and fulfilled life.

The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself.  The more you learn the more you earn. ~Warren Buffett

Your money FLOW can grow only to the extent YOU are willing to GROW.  If you think you can hack the system you are sadly mistaken.  Ask yourself why you don’t trust your SELF to make it happen?  What self-talk is sabotaging you to next level in your life?  The only way to break through this is to FOLLOW THROUGH with an investment in yourself.  Commit to a non-negotiable standard around this and just do it.  YES … it’s that valuable.  🙂

Having a lot of money does not automatically make you a successful person.  What you want is money and meaning.  You want your work to be meaningful, because meaning is what brings the real richness to your life. ~Oprah Winfrey

To be sure, money alone is a lonely world without meaning in your life.  Money is the BEST way to keep “score” about what’s happening in your life, too.  If you’re busy chasing the money, you’ll likely find your circle of friends valuing the same.  Are you happy with that?  Ask yourself, would you trust their judgment and advice…OR…are they simply trying to get what’s theirs (without true regard and care for you)?   Who you are is what you invite into your life.   Meaning is what keeps the fuels burning and keeps you hungry to BE more and DO more for the greater GOOD.

Too many people spend money they earned…to buy things they don’t want…to impress people they don’t like. ~Will Rogers

Is keeping up with the neighbors and “friends” and family top on your list of values?  You may not think it’s not…but I invite you to double check your spending habits (what you do without much thought behind it).  Do you buy stuff because someone else has it and somewhere inside you, you think you’ll feel more on par and “complete” by having it, too?  Have you questioned if more “stuff” is the answer to your fulfillment and joy—and then have you tracked your progress around it?  If it isn’t going to keep you fulfilled and joyful for the long-term, why are you inviting it into your life at all?

I’m not saying that some things aren’t worth their value for the temporary joy it brings.  However, I INVITE YOU to consider your habits ar0und this.  How much are you investing in the short-term for the sake of keeping up with others?  And so, how much more of a GAP are you creating between YOU and the RICH LIFE you truly desire and deserve?

It is ok to live a life others do not understand. ~Unknown

Becoming more means stepping away from the masses—from what everyone else is doing.  Don’t believe me?  Then look at what the wealthy and successful are doing.  If you take a closer look, you’ll see that they are simply DOING what so many others are NOT willing to do.  This is why only 1% of the world own about half the world’s wealth.

Money issues and problems aren’t because of lack of money, it’s about a broke mindset.  A broke mindset emerges into feelings of lack and before you know it, your life gets on a fast track of constantly “fixing” and “emergencies.”  Are you tired of this?  Are you ready to jump off this hamster wheel?  Damn… I hope you get mad enough to finally do something different because only then will you experience different results.   Bookmark this article and when in doubt, read it again.  You so got this!
