How To Create A Happy Life (Even When Life Feels Hard)

The first step to “creating a happy life” is to forget about creating a happy life.

Forget about making a new year a happy year…
Forget about making next month a happy month…
Forget about making next week a happy week...
Forget about making tomorrow a happy day!

What the wha????
YEP!
Instead, make it a practice to have happy, joyful moments as often as possible every day.

There’s enough stress in life as it is.
And…
When you look at the energy of “creating a happy life”, your mind and body feel heavy energy because it becomes a task too great to be able to comprehend. It’s hard to wrap your head around how to accomplish a “happy life” (especially if you’re in a rut and especially now that life has drastically changed because of COVID19).

Do you feel the heavy energy in the air?

The effort and energy is VERY heavy when you consider how to create a happy life (when you’re also witnessing so much despair and disruption happening in the world around you).

It’s overwhelming, wouldn’t you agree?

If “creating a happy life” has been a struggle, then please, take a break my friend!

Make your day a moment-to-moment thing and pay attention to your instinct (and the energy there before you lift a finger or say the next word) [Chapter 1 of Your Energy Makeover]. Bring awareness to these micro-moments and do what you can in that instant to increases joy (naturally).

The simple act of choosing lighter more harmonic feelings and/or responses in the moments creates multiple mini-moments that are more joyful. You’ll feel lighter and by default, that’ll get you closer to joy (even when life feels hard). Read that again, please. 😊

This isn’t difficult because you know joy in some way. You already know you can smile and feel joy (so this concept isn’t hard). By purposefully choosing moments you slowly dissolve old beliefs and energetic blocks keeping your life on hold (without a lot of effort and heavy feeling energy and worry about creating a joyful life as a whole).

It’s been my experience that you’ll more naturally catch and then break down the unconscious reels like:

  • Life is hard…
  • I’ve been dealt a bad hand at life…
  • I never win…
  • I was born unlucky…
  • I don’t deserve joy…

More micro-moments of the day where you resolve to choose happy (or a lighter more harmonic response) you’ll likely find BREAKTHROUGH moments like:

1. Discover You’re An Empath.

You may be feeling unhappy because you may actually be sad for someone else. You’re sad about what they’re going through as if you’re going through it yourself. That’s empathy (and you may be an empath and not realize it). That’s also compassion. It’s a normal way to process life. This world needs more compassionate people! You can learn to manage what you feel for others and still feel joy and more in CONTROL of your own life.

2. JoyLESS is your habit.

You’ll see that your “lack of joy” may actually be what you created yourself. It’s a choice you made and perhaps a habitual choice you didn’t even realize you made (until now). Therefore, the simple exercise of bringing harmony to your instinct and choosing more joyful moments (as often as you can every day) will help you LIVE what it means to cultivate happiness from within.

It would drive me bananas when I worked with healers or coaches who said, “Maria, you must cultivate the joy from within.” or “Joy is an inside job.” For me, this was correct in theory but also very broad-stroked. How does one cultivate joy when you’ve been in a rut for so many dog-gone years?

(Now you know what I figured out).

Picking moments over creating a happy life lessens the stress.
Can you feel it?

Having multiple moments of joy builds the momentum of energy toward higher vibrating energy that attracts. In other words, it improves your attractor factor!

The “I’m supposed to feel joy, love, positive” is unnatural when you’re in a serious funk. Remember, you are BOTH human and spiritual. Let yourself be human and give yourself a break. You can absolutely simplify and just move it up a notch in the moments of the day and that’s enough.

The action of choosing lighter more harmonic feeling moments—in and of itself—is a signal to the Universe that says “BETTER”, so you’ll receive better!

This is way better than forcing “positivity thinking” in the most difficult times because you think “you’re supposed to feel positive to get positive” that communicates to the Universe “I’m lying about what I feel”. That’s a mixed signal!

DING DING DING!
I hope lightbulbs just went off for you!
It’s a subtle energy shift, but it’s one that’ll serve you well when properly understood.

Follow the slightly better feeling—they are your clues leading you to BETTER. Period.

Picking moments of joy (or lighter harmonic feelings) is like following a lead. The lighter feeling is a clue for you, a messenger that feels like it’s taking you toward something. It’ll feel like you’re “onto something” and that connection is you working in harmony with the Universe and it’s aligned with your Soul Truth—getting you more into alignment!

Naturally, picking moments of joy (or lighter harmonic feelings) will also expand your intuition. This is SUPER because it’s intuition that’s supporting and working on your behalf! In other words, your intuition will be something you use proactively!

With practice, you’ll more instinctively (or intuitively) identify the lighter feeling and innately know what to do in the micro-moments you’re deciding…

  • Should I call them?
  • Should I pick up the phone? (when you see caller ID)
  • How do I reply to that text?
  • Do I reply to this email right now – or wait?
  • Do I have this conversation now – or wait?
  • Do I work on this project or take a break?
  • Should I eat this or not?
  • Should I go out or stay home?
  • Should I partner with them or not?

Please don’t disregard the power behind the simplicity of what I’m sharing in this chapter.

Remember

You are a Sacred Thumbprint of the Universe.
You are an expression of the Universe.
Your life is a fuller expression of the Universe.
You are Divinely designed to work in harmony with the Universe.
No exceptions.

You are also HUMAN and that means you are naturally and Divinely designed to be a pleasure seeker, too!

Oh yes! Merge your intellect with your intuition—your humanness with your spirit—and you CAN DO GREAT THINGS with SO MUCH JOY!
